Went to the beach yesterday and had the biggest penny day yet, 167 pennies. 6 quarters, 7 dimes, 4 nickles and a lot of pull tabs, not to mention foil, sinkers, metal, cans, etc.I Did find 1 10 k. heart shape necklace. My finds are usually more balanced than this.
Out of the 167 pennies that I did find, only 85 were salvageable. The rest of the pennies were all chewed up by the salt and soil from the beach. When I dug each penny, most of them were nothing but small lumps of salt and sand and I couldn't even tell what kind of coin I had.
It was a hard day, about 9 hours of detecting, kind of soar the following morning. It seems to me like someone already worked the beach the prior day and either rejected or discriminated all the pennies in that area. I worked the beach at low tide where the beach eroded the beach front at high tide. The oldest penny was wheaty dated 1956 d , in pretty good shape.
JUST WANTED TO SHARE MY PENNY DAY WITH EVERYONE.
