A detector surprise me.

Well-known member
I just got back from Myrtle Beach this weekend and had took 2 detectors with me, one was the MXT, and the other was the Teknetics 4000. Now i don,t go to the beach much as it is about a 10 hr. drive so don,t have a beach detector. I knew the MXT had a salt setting and the 4000 was good at park hunting. Well after 2 days swinging the MXT, that is about 4lb. i went to the 4000. I though it might do ok on dry sand. Well to my surprise i took it in the water up to the mid point and it was as quite as a mouse. I though well it just don,t work here. About that time it got a hit and rain out just like at a park. I found pennies and some pull tabs. I took the MXT that after noon and it went crazy in the water, how could this be with a fixed ground balance detector like the 4000? It did fine in dry sand as well, so next time you get tired of that heavy detector, just pick up a TeKnetics 4000 and try it. Good Luck Flintstone
