A few finds from last weekend's hunt. Part:1.

Hope I'm not too much of a nuisance, but I'm back with another round of finds from yet another weekend's hunt.

There will be a Pic of a few finds I got a week ago that I didn't post about. There isn't much that I found but they still add to the Keepers Totals. The first Pic of the Coins and Misc. are from the Golf Course in my town. The Golf Course was actually a Horse Track way back in the old days and also had 2 different Ball Diamonds on it and a School with Playground Equipment at one time. Well, the Club House sat over top of where the School sat and this was to be demolished so the Company I work for can come in and build a New Building that will be bigger and also have a ramp leading down to the Basement so the Golf Club can store their Golf Carts in the off season. Well, the building was torn down and the dirt was moved around also a bit. The only thing is that I had to go to my brothers and do him a favor that couldn't wait until the next day, so I didn't get to detect this before the Excavating Crew came in and dug the hole the next day. Who knows what I may have missed out on! After they got the hole dug, I tried it anyways in the areas that I could detect that wasn't Clay in hopes of finding some Barbers or something really old for Keepers at least. Well, I got a couple Keepers but nothing like I was hoping for, so if there was anything there before, it's all piled up and will most likely get buried along the Foundation Walls when they back-fill. All I found was 1 Jefferson Nickel dated 1953-d, 3 Wheats dated 1910,1929, and 1949, and Misc. Jewelery. One has Sterling marked on the back side but have no idea as to what it may have been on or used for and the other is what looks to be a Kids Bracelet. Maybe later this Fall when I detect in the Golf Course itself, I will pull some nice Coins but it will have to be until it is almost freeze-up when the Golfer's stop Golfing. Now onto the Weekend's Finds!

Saturday, Tim, Dale, and I decided to meet up and do some detecting together. Dale hasn't done much detecting since May so he was really looking forward to getting back into the swing of things. We decided to try 2 Parks this time out. I had been on Tim's Case about going to one of these Parks for awhile now since we both knew there had been Keepers found there previously and I wanted to know just what was left at this Park. So we hit the road and I finally got to see the Park for the first time. Nice Big Park and I am sure there is some nice stuff still there for another trip sometime.

The 1st Park was somewhat hard to get anything Deep that was Old but we finally started to find some pockets that had the Keepers that we were seeking. Some areas had Clad as Deep as 6"-10", so there had to be fill brought in at one time which really sucked since the Old Coins were at too great of Depths, even the E-TRAC couldn't get Signals from them. We hunted this Park for about half the day and found some stuff for our efforts. Tim found a bunch of Wheats and a Rosie along with a Silver Ring and a few Older Canadian Pennies. I'm not totally sure if he pulled anything else from this Park but he did pretty well here and he was using the New E-TRAC. Dale, he found 4 Silver Dimes, 2 Merc's, 1 Rosie, and a Canadian Dime (at least I believe that is what the Silver were again), and some Wheats also along with a Canadian Penny I'm sure. I found 4 Silver also, which were all Mercury Dimes, a few Older Canadian Pennies, some Wheat Pennies, an Indian Head, a Clad Kennedy Half Dollar, a Dollar Bill that was buried in a Volleyball Court with 5 Quarters, 1 being a Canadian Quarter that was giving me a Null, so I investigated and out popped the Quarter, 2 Sak. Dollar Coins, and a Toy Ring that has a Saddle on each side of it and some kind of items on the Top of the Ring, like 4 Bullets, a Cat, 2 CC's, a Star, and an Arrow. Wonder what it's from???

The 2nd Park, we hunted until it was time to head for home. This Park didn't seem to have much finds in it until I started detecting along the Sidewalk. I got a couple Wheats on one side of the Sidewalk and then decided to move into the Park itself to see what was there. I didn't find much of anything but a few more Wheats, a Half Wheat, and a Token. Tim was having a bit of luck finding 2 Indians, an 11-s Wheatie along with a couple more Wheats, a Texas State Fair Souvenir from 1906, and some Large Coin the size of a Silver Dollar and about twice as thick. It's a Foreign Coin of some sort and the Date was gone that I could tell but Tim said he thought he could see an 8 making it 18??. I told Tim that it may go back to the late 1700's and he thought it was more like the Early 1800's, but it sure was a nice find. Congrats on that find Tim!!! You may just get a 1st Place for Foreign Coin with that one at the next meeting. As for Dale, he found a few more Wheats here and I believe that was about it. His back was bothering him since he hasn't done this for awhile so he just walked along with me some of the time. I was starting to get tired of this Park since it seemed like the Keepers were non-existent here and told Dale, "the Old Coins must be only along the Sidewalk" and I started walking over to it while Dale agreed with me. Now this is how good I am!!!! I get right up to the Sidewalk and BAM!, a 28 on Digital that is 6"-8" Deep. Dug down while Dale watched and BOOM!, Merc! Filled in the Plug and rescanned it and about 6" away from here got another reading but it was bouncing around 27-28 on Digital. Dug this and WHAM!, another Merc! I then told Dale that I couldn't believe that I could just walk right into that specific spot in the Sidewalk and nail 2 Merc's at once. Dale agreed and then I told him he better get his detector if he wanted some Keepers before I got them all. So he finally got his detector and started working in the opposite direction of where I started at. As he walked by, I told him that I just dug a Wheatie and just found another Merc, so his hopes were high when he started. Only thing was that he only found a couple more Wheats but at least I gave him a chance in getting a few more Silver. Good Hunt Dale and hopefully next time out, your back won't hurt as much and you can dig more Keepers this time around. As for me, I found a few more Wheats after this and also a Half Wheat, but didn't have the Date on it and a Key. Then we packed her in and headed back home. As we were getting ready to depart, Tim says, "Yep!, the Silver King got all the Silver again, the Silver Hog!", and Dale agreed while I chuckled about it. I can't help that I walked right into them, besides, it's on NATURAL!!! Hope to do some more hunting with you guys this upcoming weekend. Good Hunt Fella's!

Sunday, I decided to go try some Boulevards again. I didn't get going until later in the day and that is because I wanted to get my Labor Day Weekend's Finds posted Sunday Morning for you guys. By the time I made it into Fargo, Rain Showers were coming through, so I grabbed something to eat and went and visited my Mother for awhile. It was after 3:00pm when I finally decided to give it a go since I wanted the Grass to dry out a bit so there wouldn't be much of any Black Marks from the Dirt. I got there and within 2 swings, got a Deeper 28 Reading. Dug down and a Silver Rosie appeared. I thought this was going to be a great hunt late in the day but it wasn't as loaded as I had thought. I worked this 1 Boulevard (which was the length of 2 City Blocks) until 7:00pm or a little after. My Battery was about to die also at this time so I didn't feel like going to get another Battery for another Hour or so of Hunt Time, so I just finished the 1 Boulevard and called it quits. I found 1 more Silver, being a Merc, and a bunch of Wheats again, along with an Older Jefferson Nickel, a Sterling Silver Ring that was found in an area littered with New Coins and was hidden until recovered while pulling the Clad, a Key, 2 Buttons, and a Lead Goblin, which I might use for my Avatar Pic and call him the Silver Goblin, the Gate Keeper to my Silver Vault!

So here's the Totals for the finds. I found 9 Silver which were 8 Mercury Dimes dated 17-s,27,27-s,36-d,40-d,41-s,42-d,44-s and 1 Rosie dated 51. I dug 1 Older Jefferson Nickel dated 56-d. There were 4 Canadian Pennies recovered as well and they are dated 40,46,50, and 55. Only 1 Indian Head was found by me and that was dated 1883. The Nickel, Indian Head, and the Canadian Cents will be posted in a Pic together. Rest of the finds will be in Part:2 and Part:3. Thanks for viewing and Good Luck and HH to you all.:detecting:[attachment 104408 DirtyFinds.jpg][attachment 104407 CleanedFinds.jpg][attachment 104406 DirtySilver.jpg][attachment 104405 CleanedSilver.jpg][attachment 104409 DirtyNickelIndianCanadianCents.jpg][attachment 104410 CleanedNickelIndianCanadianCents.jpg]

Here's the Token and the Play Coin I found. The Token reads Good For One City Fare and on the reverse it reads Grand Forks St. Ry. Co. The Play Coin reads Play Quarter Falsa Pecunia on one side and the other reads Uncle Sam Play Quarter 1950. As for the Wheats, I dug 35 1/2 of them. They are dated 17,18,19,19-s,20,27-d,28-d,37-d,(3)41,41-d,42,42-d,(2)44,(2)44-d,(2)45-d,(2)46-d,(2)47-d,49-d,(2)50-d,51-d,55-s,(5)57-d, and 58-d. The Half Wheat has no Date but was most likely from the 40's-50's. Part:3 comin' up! Enjoy! Here's the rest of the haul. I found 1 Dollar Bill, 2 Sak. Dollars both dated 2000-p, and a Clad Kennedy Half Dollar dated 1972-d. As for the Misc. Finds, I found 2 Keys, a Round Whatzit Item, a Sterling Silver Ring with Hearts and Arrows on it, a Heart Pin that reads 3 Gal on it, 2 different Buttons, a Newer Coat Zipper, and the Lead Goblin that reads GW MCMLXXXV on the back for the Date. Hope you enjoyed the Pics and story. It was giving that Paper Sound when you take a peice of Paper that hasn't been creased and is still stiff and wave it back and forth real fast in your hand. It was a No Brainer and I knew what it was before I dug it.:rofl: If it would have had a Silver Quarter with it, I could have told you it read like a Silver Dollar!:crylol::rofl::thumbup: Thanks for the reply and Good Luck and HH to you.

WOW that haul of old silver & relic's TOTALLY ROCK. better watch out you"ll change the center of gravity of the earth with all that old silver at you house i suggest you stop finding silver immediately & let other people find the silver to correct this imbalance . if you cant tell i"m envious :surprised:. good job James
