A few finds from Sat.

Mark in S.E. IA

Sat I went back to the street tearout that I have been working for the past month. I worked 2 blocks that they have not tore anything out yet. I'm sure it's been hit already but I managed to find a Merc and 9 wheat's and not very much clad. I found the Merc about 2" deep real close to a tree. After that I went to check on a school demo that I kinda forgot about. Everything is done except for the back filling of the areas that was scraped down a lil. I could see holes from other ppl but I managed to find a few keepers. I found a nice Buff that I cleaned up with a dremel using a brass wire wheel and lime a way too. I also found a old bus token, a Jewish medal, a real crusty 1893 IH with a hole in it and 3 more wheat's. It's been a few years since I have found a coin with a hole in it.

We had frost here Sat morning and the bean fields are starting to turn a round here so I'm guessing I'll be back in the fields here in about 2 weeks.

I just don't seem to have very many places to hunt anymore. The old parks here don't produce very much, and I'm not into clad. I live the hobby through some of the finds you show us, but it also makes me a little jealous.
Keep it Mark!

Nice finds Mark! Our soil just destroys buffalos. You can always make out that it's a buffalo but we would never stand the chance of getting one anywhere near as clean as you did with that one. I think I've only even gotten two or three that you could make out the date but that's another issue.

Bill it's about the same a round here. All the parks are pretty well picked over and that's why I take the long road trips on some weekend and some times I get luck and find a place that is not picked over.

mapper, most Buff's and V's come out of the ground in rough shape a round here too, but this one was in nice shape so I cleaned it up.

Good stuff Mark. With the cold snap that came through here this past week, it shouldn't be long until those combines are running and we can get back to the fields! :detecting: Best of luck this fall. HH Randy
