Got out today and hit a few area's previously pounded before finally meeting Doug from the Minnesota area. It was a tough hunt due to all the iron in the ground but we did get a couple keepers. Rick didn't fare too well but it was fun just fun getting out and detecting for a while since I haven't detected with him very much this year. It was fun to check each others signals and when I went to check Doug's target he was digging for, I knew as soon as I swept the coil over the target it was going to be silver. I helped him out on locating the target since he doesn't have the X-1 Probe and soon found the Merc he has posted. He is now ordering a Probe for his Explorer-2 and once he gets it and uses it, he will be glad he bought it and will be able to recover targets faster and then move on to the next target. It was fun detecting today with Doug and Rick and will have to plan another outing in the near future. Now for the few finds I managed to find this weekend. I found 2 Silver which included 1 Barber Quarter dated 1907-O and the other was a Roosevelt Dime dated 1962-d. I also found a Silver War-Nickel dated 1943-p about an inch away in the same hole as the Barber Quarter. The good thing about these 2 coins is that a guy I know had previously stopped at this spot and got a couple Silver coins out of it and I was headed up in the general location so I gave it a shot. The 2 Coins were no more than 1' away from one of his plugs he had dug when he was there and I couldn't believe he missed it. I guess I was just plain luck that he didn't find and I did. Now for the other finds, I found an 1896 Indian Head Penny and 8 Wheaties dated 1911-d,1926-d,1929-d,1936,1941,1944,1957-d, and 1958-d. I also found another of those annoying 1959-d Lincoln Memorial Cents. I found also 2 Misc. Items. 1 is a smashed Thimble that says N.J.C. Flour and the other Item is unknown. It was made in Germany and I have posted a front and back pic of both Items. And for Clad I found 5 Quarters, 14 Dimes, 2 Nickels, and 34 Pennies. Also, I hunted with Dale on Saturday and he found some Wheats, an 1888 Indian Head, a Merc, a Barber Dime dated 1916, and a Canadian Dime dated 1881-H in VF/EF Condition. This next weekend I plan on hitting some good spots and hopefully I will rake in a bunch of silver and a lot of nice finds to post as I try to break out of this slump I am having. Good Luck and HH to you all during the week and hope to see some finds being posted.
