My buddy and I got out yesterday and decided to try a local school where the multi-use field has recently been modified and now has a drainage system installed to remove access water and also a track is being added.
We visited this site many time back earlier in the year before the work started and found LOTS of clad coins, a class ring which my buddy found and returned to the owner who lost it 7 years ago, but only one silver coin which I found and that was a 1962 quarter.
When the contruction begun, they removed about 14 to 16 inches of dirt and although we tried the area a few times, we could hardly get a signal and just figured that with that depth of soil removed, everything was taken out.
Recently they replaced the dirt and below are some of the finds that I made including a 1954 Rosie which was found in the fill dirt.
My buddy also found a 1956 Rosie and we got a couple of wheat pennies, but the rest were new coins.
I found the "Sports" medallion up on the terraced bank and this area gave up a lot of coins on earlier hunts.
9 of the quarters and the Sacaqewea dollar coins were found at another location later in the day.
I believe there is some more silver coins in this field, but since it stays so wet during rainy weather, the belive the coins were very deep, but perhaps there are not as many left as I think.. who knows!!
Thanks for looking,
Felix
