And, fellow swingers, there wasn't much else.......save for a couple of bottle caps and a dozen or so tab tails and rings.
Had only a couple hour hunt window this morning and was scratching my head on where to go. We are dry as a bone here and not many places one can dig without leaving tell tale signs behind. Consequently, I headed off to a patch of old woods knowing I could easily dig there and not be concerned about un-glamours refilled holes. Although it is still to early for serious woods hunting yet in our part of the country, this wooded area has numerous miles of walking trails and paths and those were the avenues I opted to hunt.
Had the 75 rigged with the 5 x 10 dd coil and set up with DST 90, de mode, disc 0, (no notch) 3h tones, sen 90 and a g b of 71. Besides a few trash pieces it was almost an hour on the trails before I got my first coin target. That was the well worn V nickel which was literally laying on top of the ground on the side of the trail. I can barely see lady Liberty's profile and not a trace of a date. About twenty yards further along the trail right at the base of a sawed down tree I got a nice 89-90 reading showing 5." From about 4, I recovered the well traveled 1901 Barber quarter. Not to long after that got the 1930 Buffalo nickel and the 26 wheat cent. Along the way I recovered the few pieces of clad and the no cash value token. Quality over quantity is alway my preference. Hope everyone has a good hunting weekend. HH jim tn
