Finished up the conversion of several Explorer 2's that I had while my ankle was broken. I took it once since it was completed and this set-up is such a pleasure to swing. With the 13" coil mounted on the s-rod, it weighs a little over 2 1/2lbs
Instead of prying the control housing off the handle, I took the faceplate off and cut it as close to the housing as possible.
I bought some 1/4" audio jacks and mounted those to the back of the housing. I disabled the speaker, since I use a wireless transmitter with wireless earbuds, both the TR and the earbuds are Low latency and APTX , no lag perceived. I'm using a 12v. 3000 mah power bank to run the units, the only drawback is, the power bank has an on/off switch, when off, it kills any power to the Explorer and this causes a reset. I bought a AA battery pack for a back up in case my power bank dies in the field.
I've been jewelry hunting so far this year, but, when I start turf hunting the EX 2 will be my go to machine.
