A FIRST FOR ME:bouncy:

Contractors left about 4 pm so decided to go hunt the old fairgrounds for a couple hrs. Started down a row where I left off the other day Got about half way down the row & got a screaming hit. I new it was good , Ididn't even turn 90 degrees I glanced at the cursor & it was buried top right. I thought I'd switch to numbers to see what she said. It was 0 27 0 28, didn't even pinpoint, just done the wiggle.Stuck my digger in just a little ways & said Please be a Barber quarter cause I haven't got one yet. Flipped over the plug & saw big silver. I was so shoked I about loaded my drawers. Done a fist pump & moved on. Got down the row a little further & seen a place where I dug the other day. I started on the wrong row & I'm glad I did I don't see how I missed it ,cause it was only 2 in deep at the most Got the nickel & 2 injuns on way back to the truck. Was going to wait & post once a week from now on but was so excited about my first Barber half I had to share it I love this sport

that barber is in sweet shape. After all the talk about how good are machines are somehow we miss more coins by just missing them then by anything else. At lease for me and the guys who admit it we just miss somtimes and we got no real excuse.
Thats why doing what you did is the best way to go over a site multiple times and directions...find show bro.

good luck

Aren't those Barber halves beautiful to find? I also got my first one last weekend, a 1907 in XF condition. If I recall I did the fist pump also...:super: It's a great feeling. Great Job!

Very nice :super:

I'm always in awe how a large chunk of silver only 2" deep could have eluded so many md'ers over the years. I have to believe that the exact spot of turf where that coin was lying never had a coil swung over it, until you came along!

Great coin, Stubbs!!

Congrats,

Congratulations Stubbs1. thats a nice one.

Awesome recovery, congrats! Might hve been buried more deeply before, or just missed. Dirts shifts around in fields that are still being farmed, right?

:yo: Congrats on the big silver Stubbs. I found a silver half in my first year (4 years ago) and haven't found another since. Now you got me droolin'.

Very nice barber - I just got a 1903 a few weeks ago. Congrats.

Wow Butch, that is a beauty!!! You don't find those Barber halves everyday. I think when people dropped them other people spotted them on the ground and picked them up. They are too big and shiny to stay hid in the grass like a penny or a dime.

I just found my first Barber half this summer also. A 1909 S. I about loaded my pants as well. Keep up the good work Butch!
