Probably my worst hunt of the year. One hour 15 minutes in a pasture that serves as a sled hill during the winter. I guess I wasn't into it today because I usually do better there. One of those pennies is a wheat. The feather is sterling silver and part of an earring I guess. No nickels. No quarters.
The Half Crown came from a convenience store on my way to the field. The clerk/owner was ranting about finding it in his drawer. I told him I collect foreign coins and I'd take it off his hands. He said he'd have to get 50 cents for it which I was happy to do. It's the size of a US half dollar but only 50% silver. Still 3-4 bucks worth of silver. What I don't get is that this guy comes from either India or Pakistan which were both British Empire. You'd think the guy would have seen one at some time. I have come across about 5 or 6 of these in the past year either at the store or at the bank. I might have to start collecting them. FYI 1946 was the last year they were minted in silver so I was a little lucky.
So here you are UW. A hunt that will make you glad you stayed home.
