A good day :)

Well we had a great day today, Nauti Neil and I had arranged to go detecting together. I got there and headed down to the beach, and started to hunt. After the first signal I see Neil walking down the beach, I started to dig the target and he came over and we chatted for a few minutes, then we started to detect. After less than 20 seconds I hear a shout, so I turn around and Neil has got a massive grin on his face and is holding a nice gold ring! He drags his spade as he detects and no kidding, his drag mark was 4 meters long! He found another ring (platinum this time!) inside another 20minutes! He was like a gold magnet! Meanwhile I was suffering from battery problems. My batteries hadn't charged, (I think the charger is broken). But luckily I had a pod as a third spare in the truck but it was flat, so I had to run to my truck, then the shop, back to the truck and change the batteries, then back to the search area. I did it in 20 minutes ( in waders, 2 coats and thermals!) so I still had an hour of low tide left. I found a great bracelet, and then a superb 18k 8.3g gold ring :)
Neil had me running over to "oh" and "ah" over the gold he was plucking out of the sand every few minutes! I think he finished up with 3 gold rings and a bunch of silver ones. He didn't need a detector, he could just reach in to the sand and charm them out. He was like a gold magnet! It's the second time we've hunted, and another very successful outing! Happy days :)

More massive high and low tides this next few days, could be good.....

Sounds like a very good day indeed. Funny how the gold comes in bunches but ive experienced it that way too.. as far as your charger is concerned if you are talking about the excal charger make sure the 2 male pins on the charger didnt get pinched shut thus not allowing one side to make contact.also make sure the female side on your battery and the pins on the charger are clean .. I guess there is a way to meter the 2 pins on the charger to see if its putting out proper voltage.. good luck and congrats on a great hunt... 6 inches of snow left here with possibility of 12 more inches of new snow in 3 days. I dont think spring is gonna show up this year!

Yep,that 18 carat is a beauty mate.......there's nothing better than getting the higher carat rings.Hope to see you soon for some more gold hunting.
All the best,neil.

Very nice finds. It's really frustrating when the hunt is interrupted by anything...at least you got sorted out fairly quickly. Well done!

Man! Great ring! 18K and heavy! :clapping: Must have been one of those days when conditions were just right?

Thanks Bootyhound, it looks like you were right with the terminals on the charger. It seams like the battery is charged, I'll find out Monday, but it's looking good, thank you very much :)

Very nice! congrats!!!

Holey smokes. You guys are cleaning up on the goodies. Why do you need a job. Just retire and have a little fun.. Wonderful finds. It sure makes your day... KEN , IND.

Thanks Ken, I'm doing an all night hunt tonight, it's a super low tide, I'll let you know how it goes, old gold is what I'm hunting tonight at a secret spot.....

Good luck with your all night hunt, WW. All I found Saturday was this item and 6 cents before my At/Pro started acting up. It picked this small ear ring up at about 4-5 inches deep and without the modification of my scoop with the 1/4 inch hardware, I would not had recovered it. Lots of 22 fired rounds and casings. I didn't see any markings on it and haven't tested it yet. Hope next time I get to go dirt fishing I can have something worthwhile to post.
