a good non-popular detector?

I was wondering if any of you know a metal detector that works good and isn't from one of the more popular brands, like garrett or minelab.

Non import....the Nautilus DMC 2b. If your prepared to import one of the Golden Mask range (but not the pulse).

The Golden mask range detectors are definitely a very good detectors at a modest price, but like UK Brian said, it may be a little bit too expensive to import one from Europe.

Try the Ace 250 or 350 they are very good and low price. Try Whites Coin master, or one of the Prizen line, very good.About all in low price line are good for what you pay. You don, need a $1,000.00 detector to coin hunt. Good luck Flintstone

My 2 cents is to stick with the tried and true. The Garrett 250 and Bounty Hunter Tracker IV are both Made In The USA and good starter detectors. I've read that White's are top notch (also MITUSA) and you get what you pay for! You didn't say what level you're at, but If you're just starting out go for a newbie model to keep the cost low. Don't go for some cheap off-shore model that will make you give up on what might be a most awesome hobby for you!

For a reasonable price, the Tesoro Compadre is a surprisingly capable, basic, easy machine.

The Whites Coinmaster lll SL isn't very popular and is probably one of the best deals money wise.Another great inexpensive detector Fisher 1265-X.I'm not sure of your question and assume good value detectors overlooked by most people.I would suggest stay with a name brand detector new or used.

A few Bliss tool models, Vista RG 750. look for it on net.

wonder why my post was censored?
let's try again. BLISSTOOL LTC48

I didn't like the Vista RG 750 but the Bliss tool offers performance at a good price and the build quality has improved. I did a field test on the Bliss tool (not on this forum) and it disappeared withing a couple of hours. Must be subjects your not allowed to mention !

If it's GOOD, it's probably POPULAR.

As far as Whites go the QXT was the best machine I ever used from Whites, yet it was not the most popular and very much the black sheep of the Whites line. Deepest Whites I've ever used for silver/copper coins.

Ground Hawk
I have one.
If I had the extra $$, I would have two.
Mr. Bill at Surfscanners has one left.

The Discovery Electronics Treasure Baron with the Cointrax 2.2 module is pretty hard to beat, even with today's machines. Pretty steep learning curve though. They turn up once in a while, usually at a fair price. Here's some info and a forum link.

The Baron CTII with 2.2 chip is awesome. I think the reason it is 'un-popular' is the interface. It can do basically anything but it's not keen to salt water beaches...hence me debating selling it.

The [ DINGO ] was a machine made by Tesoro for the Australian market only. To bad it was never sold in the U.S.

Haven't heard about that one before, any more info on it, picture?

Try the Bounty Hunter Time Ranger. It's considered a discontinued detector but there are many still available new. Over the holiday, they were marked down as low as $149 which includes 2 coils ( outstanding deal). Unlike many of the detectors mentioned in this thread which only go 4"-6" inches, the Time Ranger can find pennies and dimes at 10" 9 maybe more with the 8" coil. The 4" nugget coil will detect pennies and dimes at 10". Those depths are from my own personal finds!

I have been detecting for about 14 years. Owned many Tesoro and Whites detectors. This Times Ranger, which I have had for about 2 years is right up there with those names and more. Many of those other units don't come close to the depth this one gets.
