Youngted

New member
A great condition Sestertius of Gordian 3rd A.D.238/244 he was murdered at only the age of 19. Reverse Leatitia =goodness/gladness found in difficult ground in the UK at 9 inches,

We don't find anything that old here in the States, Can you tell me what kind of metal it is made out of?

Thanks

AMazing you can see all the details in the hair after- what like 1700+ years in the ground?!
HH,
Bill

I would say amazeing find---but amazeing is an understatement for that find!---Congrats & congrats!!!------Don't keep us in suspense, what machine were you useing, settings, ground conditions, etc.?--------Del

Two questions Answered on the coin Fmanly the metal is Bronze alloy Found with my T2 fitted with a S.EF 12x10 coil.I have found several Sestertius on this ground but none as good as this .It was the largest coin minted during the Roman Imperial period. I hope for more googies but the English weather has turned against me yet again !

I forgot the ground is Flint & soil over chalk hence the Good condition of the bronze. Conditions unrealised settings Sens 70 Disc 20 Sounds 2+ Freq. 7 taking it VERY slow to get in between the nails and scraps of iron that abound on a UK Romano British site.

Very nice, all the sestertius` l find are poor condition.

Did find this with my T2 though...on my 50th birthday last Sept :beers:
