Anyone ever have their Explorer XS middle and lower rod stick tight..Tried to change coils and bottom rod will not come out. I took the camlock apart( real easy) and still wont move..Any help appreciated..Thanks, Dan

Yes,

Has happened to me.

If you warm up that area with warm to hot water or use a hair dryer to warm up with low heat, the aluminium upper stem section around this area where you insert the lower section it should help.

If using a heat source other than pouring the warm/hot water on, dab or spray a little silicone or non benzolic base lube or even vegetable like, olive, oil where the join of the lower section goes in to the upper section so that the heat and gravity helps the lube to flow in and between the lower and upper shafts.

After you've warmed up this section, take a firm grip of both ends as close to the area as possible and pull

I ended up pulling the black cam lock outer of the end of the shaft but managed to put it back on on so far they've stayed on.

If your going to use any lubricant later, smear of silicon lube, olive oil or dry talcum powder works.

AND........just in case you haven't, make sure your doing all this WITHOUT the control box connected.

Appreciate the help...I use a very short lower rod so a lot of the bottom pole is up the aluminum rod....really confused the heck out of me as it didn't seem tight going in..A little patience and a rainy day tomorrow I should have it good to go...

Had a slight problem due to hunting in a "dirtier than normal" situation.
Get some graphite or use a pencil lead to lube the lower shaft. Grease and oil will only attract more dirt.

It came apart with some time and patience..As he stated cooking oil did the job..Have to watch commercial products which could be caustic to plastic...
