A little HELP

Found this, this afternoon and it looks like a brass button, but don't really see hooks on the back. Any ideas? It is about 1.05 inch in diameter. Thickness is .085. It came out of the ground with a green tarnish over it, that is what makes me think brass.

Looks like a toasted large cent or colonial copper. I've found a few colonials in that condition with green corrosion stuck to it. Nice find!
 
I did some measuring again, the coin/button is not perfectly round. One way it is 1.085 in. and another it is 1.030 inches. I would guess that means its not a coin???
 
Coins that are buried for two hundred years aren't going to remain perfectly round, if they ever were. I find modern copper coins in worse condition.
