A little Nashville hunting.

Got in three short hunts over the weekend in the Nashville Tn area and was able to sniff out a couple of goodies at a park. The first hunt yielded mainly clad and the hot wheels car, but on the second hunt I ventured out into the field and nailed the small ladies Timex watch right off. The small gold looking case sideways in the dirt sure looked like a wide gold band. I know it got the old heart pumping, anyway. A little while later I got the 45 Washington quarter. That was the first indication of anything older. Not a wheat cent could be found. Had the 5" coil on the LTD and about 6" or so away from the silver Washington I got a high tone tic. That turned out to be the 53 Rosies at about 6" totally on edge. The 3rd 1 1/2 hour hunt yielded the U S military button/device and the AMERICAN LEGISLATIVE EXCHANGE COUNCIL pin. The council was formed in 1975, so seemingly nothing special. Along with the keys and so on I plucked $7.00 plus in clad. The 79 Canada quarter was kind of neat to find 1300 or so miles from home. That is some good detecting and nice silver finds. That is a really good amount of quarters and dimes. You really messed up, you didn't get enough pennies... :laugh: Nice hunting Jim.....Z

Mighty fine job of cleaning up in Nashville! :clapping: Dang, that dime on edge woulda been there for eternity if not for you and that little coil!

Came home for a couple of days then returned to Nashville last Tues. and started hunting the same park again on Wed. that I had hunted a few days earlier. Hit it 5 times through Fri. and my wife and I then returned home today. The last 3 days I managed to sneak up on 4 more silver coins, 2 Mercs., a 1919 and 1937 and a 56 Rosie and a 43 P war nickel and the last day got the first wheat cent, a 58d. I never did really get a good handle for finds on this park. Some area's were near totally void of good targets for extended periods of time. Good numbers of clad and cents were coming from depths of 7-8" and seemingly from some fill dirt. It seemingly hadn't been hunted all that hard of late as in total I recovered almost $25.00 in clad and cents. Lots of quarters. Anyway, enjoyed hunting something different and 6 silvers for the week I was there hunting was nice. HH jim tn
 
Geez Jim I don't think the boys from Nashville will invite you back again. Gad you cleaned out Nashville. That is some great detecting. Super job.....Z

Sheesh! I bet you could find silver at a copper mine! It cant just be that you run that little coil, its got to be something about the operation or locational awareness..Mud

Guys, many people make some great finds and posts on these forums and probably even more don't post their finds at all. I wish everyone did post their finds as I enjoy seeing what is being found around the country and abroad and with what. But, I do appreciate the kind words. Mud, I like finding silver coins and other older varieties. Consequently, most of the time I try and select spots, known, or un-known, that might harbor older coins. From the houses around the Nashville park, I knew it was an older area. Hence, it seemed reasonable that the park might have the potential for silver. Parks are usually trashy and that was my reasoning for having the small coil on. Z, for the record, Elvis can be spotted more often in my neck of the woods, Memphis, more frequently then in Nashville. LOL. rick, I know you are finding many goodies as are you Rob O Mighty. It is only a matter of time for that 1st silver, Rob. You are finding a lot of other good stuff. Elton, you are just a great friend. Some day I hope we can meet and swing a little.
