A little test garden depth report on the Eurotek Pro

D&P-OR

Well-known member
Well the brown truck delivered my Euro Pro with the 8" concentric coil today.---I checked it out & put it together then headed out to my large back yard to my test garden.---I re-done this (coin) test garden last Fall so its pretty new with the coins that's planted in it, also my ground is quite mineralized.------Anyway, the 8" concentric coil did "ok" on the shallower coins but when I put the 11" DD coil on, it turned that detector into a different animal (MUCH better depth for me).----I have one line of buried coins that consists of a buried Morgan silver dollar at 9"---Barber half at 7"---Barber quarter at 6+"---Barber dime at 6" & I.H. penny at 6 1/2".-------The 8" coil would only occasional "tick" on any of these coins no matter where I had the disc or sensitivity set.----When I put the 11" coil on the only coin in this line that it wouldn't hit was the Morgan $.--------BUT---when I put the 13" DD Ultimate coil on--it banged every one of them with room to spare, I could have easily went some deeper with that coil/combo.---It easily hit them with anything from 0 disc to 79 disc, didn't seem to matter & didn't loose any depth.---Also hit them with sensitivity down to 7 but below that depth suffered---10 sens. really hammered them.-------So anyone that's got the 13" Ultimate coil that you have been using on your Greek series or GB Pro/G2 detectors---it sure looks like that coil is going to be a good marriage on the Eurotek Pro also.-----I realize its a large coil & not for use just everywhere---but it SURE has its place.------That 8" coil is gonna set on the shelf, I'll be using the 11", 5 X 10 DD's & the 13 Ultimate coils on the Euro.---------Del

Del, sounds like the bad ground killed the concentric coil, but sounds like the DD coils are doing great.
I have the 8" coil version but my ground is mild so I think I will be fine with the concentric coil.

Did you get a chance to try the iron feature out? I really like this feature and is the main reason I bought the Eurotek Pro.
Thanks for the review and HH.

Hi Roger-----Yeah, that iron I.D. is a neat feature isn't it!----My property used to belong to an old gold miner and in a section of it he had a lot of his equipment piled in there for a long time.---The equipment has long since been taken out of there but a lot of small iron was left in the ground.----I've cleared some of it out of there but purposefully left some in the ground in that area of the property.----It makes for a great test area in that section in the regard of pulling out non-ferrous item amidst the small ferrous junk.-----Anyway, I hunted thru there in 0 disc to see what the Euro could do in all that iron.----The iron I.D. feature worked well & the Euro brought non-ferrous tones up out of there really well.---I was able to pull several non-ferrous items out of that ferrous junk in fine fashion.---Nothing valuable---but "none-the-less" it sure worked well.------I can tell you from experience that A LOT of detectors I've tested in there CAN'T do that.-------I'm really enjoying this little detector in the very limited time I've used it so far--it's a "fun" little guy!--------Del

:) Well, it's an investment I don't think you would regret making, azsh07.----You just have to be aware of when (or not) to use it.----It does ad a little weight out there on the end of the stick (but not that bad)---also, of course due to its size, target masking can be an issue in some areas.----In cleaner ground & more open areas, I think its just "dynamite".-----I had one for my Etrac also & ended up getting crazy & sold it to mascard.----Regret selling it now---ya hear that Michael??-----Kiddin ya Michael, I hope you're enjoying that coil!----------Del

Cause now I have to go save up for a 13" ULTIMATE coil.......

Nicely done!!!

That it works well. I would only use it for cleaner areas....like the woods and fields.
I also have Etrac but that is used only for deep field hunting. While I like the entire Explorer series in how well it just nails deep silver....I never got comfortable in how they balance on me...always end up with a sore arm. So it is used when I have to go deep....after I have cleaned up with machines like the Eutotek

That's a good plan my friend.

Glad to hear it worked so well for you Del, if it would ever warm up around here I would go out and try mine again, believe it or not they are calling for frost this weekend, here I thought it was May .

Following your posts regarding this machine with great interest...you guys know how to get the most out of a machine..just for giggles, how does that Eurotek compare to the F70? Would I be good to go with that big coil on the F70 all things being equal? Or does the Eurotek have something that would make it a better/faster/deeper performer? I've lots of hours on the 70 and am considering a partner for it...

I saw the same kind of performance improvements with the first Eurotek Pro when changing from the 8" concentric to the 11" DD coil.
It amazed me at the difference. The iron audio is a super feature of this machine especially when hunting old home sites. I'd love to have
that function on my F75. Now I must say I was expecting the 13" coil to do better at depth. I had one with my Etrac and it did well too.

Which detectors do you currently use.........

What areas do you concentrate on when detecting.? Old Sites, newer areas ?........... All types of finds ?. Or primarily hunting for Old Silver?????
I'm just curious, and think others would be interested too

Good morning Elton......Sure, be glad to answer your questions.-----First, I'd just like to say that my wife & I have both been blessed by The Lord in having good health & being able to travel to different areas (states) detecting & are able to detect pretty much year around.----At 74 years of age, I'm hoping this continues for some time into the future. :)----My wife is just as interested in (crazy about) detecting & the aspects of it as I am (maybe more so).;)------The detectors we currently use---we have tried/owned/used many many detectors over the years and the ones we now currently own & use are the Etrac, CTX 3030, GB Pro & now this great little Eurotek Pr.----We have the various coils for these detectors to be used depending on the conditions..------On the areas we concentrate on when detecting---when coin hunting, we try to hunt areas that are old enough to at least have a shot at finding older coins.-----Many times & if we have the time to do it, we will go into a hunt area with the lighter/faster detectors & a good coil combo for that situation/area (depending on ground/trash, etc.)-----then we will go back in with the "big guns" & deep coin hunt.---Certainly all targets are not deep though, I've pulled a Morgan dollar out of a bed of nails at 1" deep before.----There's a LOT of targets in that trash.-------Types of finds---the last few years, we have been coin hunting & relic hunting & have made some pretty neat finds in each of those categories.------We used to gold (nuggie) hunt but this ole bod is getting a little old for crawling over rocks & climbing hills & mountains anymore. :)-----I still want to do some more gold hunting in CA & AZ though--maybe this next winter.-------Well, that's about it, think I answered your questions---all you ever wanted to know about me (and probably more)!-----Hope I didn't bore anybody.--------Del

You sure didn't bore me Del, I always enjoy learning about forum members, where they live, what they do or did for a living, the detector/detectors they use, type of hunting they do,etc. Many of us have been active on the forums for along time and even though most of us haven't met other forum members in person we are still like family.

+1 on what Steve said :) I really enjoy what you share with us also.

Appreciate the Post Sir !!

Well thanks guys, glad you enjoyed it.-----Patsy & I are still learning things about this great hobby.---We try to pick up/learn something new every time out.---Many times its the small things you can do as well as any one big thing done that spells success.-------We surely aren't "experts" but we're having a blast and in the end, that's what it's all about---enjoying yourself while you are out there.---------Del

I like hearing all that stuff to!!!!......................................................and O' yeah .....that 13'' coil is like a big rake for silver on the E-trac!

Del,
Thanks for the testing and the report! I think Teknetics has another winner here. Looks like I'm going to have to get me one of those 13 inch coils
