A new coil

ken ward

Im home from the Philippines. I ordered a 5.75" coil for my Vaquero. The concentric coil. I have many very trashey places I just cant keep out of. I sure hope it helps in them bad places. Should I hunt with a higher disc to start with?

Not necessarily. I still set mine below nickels. Go very slow and listen for good signals. Even dig signals that are good from 1 direction, it may be a good coin being masked by junk. Good luck.

BILLF is right on. I'd suggest digging everything until your patience wears thin as trashy areas usually have goodies missed by those that give up quickly.

I should be getting it today. I have 2 areas that are very bad. With the stock coil I can have 2 or 4 signals under the coil at 1 time. I have been trying to dig every thing. Its driving me beepers. That's why I want the small coil. I know, good luck..KEN

Ken, one of the things I've noticed is that in trashy areas, even with the Vaqueros quick recovery, if your swing speed is too fast it will make good targets sound "iffy". Slowing waaaay down will help to pick those good ones out, sometimes even with trash right over the top of it.
Are you going to pull tons of good targets out with it? Highly doubtful, but you will get the ones others don't have the patience to find. Let us know what you find.

I agree -- when running your disc at higher levels you should slow down the sweep to get the deeper signals to humm thrue if you want gold rings i would keep the disc below foil as the ground may make it less sensitive to gold as well

All great advice Ken, patience and persistence pays off. Let us know how you make out with this coil. I'll see you next winter when you come "home ".

I am looking forward to that.

Thanks you guys. Yes I do hunt sloooow. So thats no big deal for me... Well today is Saturday, I took a 3hour trip up into Michigan to a dealer I know,,, PRO SHOP. I coma home with another compadre. Thats 2 now. I will take it back to the philippines with me for those very bad trashey places.
