A new idea for bringing people into the church...

Pete in MI

New member
our Pastor has come up with the plan to have at least one Saturday a month...maybe every Saturday...as movie night.

This Saturday we will be showing Evan Almighty. Free to the public, free popcorn, free cool-aid. The area has no movie theater. Nearest one is in Clare. Good idea to help the locals get out and fight the cabin fever of winter and make some new friends as well.

We have a Gospell Music Night once a month for anyone who plays an instrument to come play which brings in more people.

Last Saturday the Youth Group had a Lock In which brought in several new faces...several Christian who have not attended a church in a long time and are considering coming to our church.

We want to serve the community and the Giving Thanks dinner yesterday was a success as well.

I hope Sherry is up to going Saturday...we try to have 'a date' once a week to keep the old love light burning in our marriage. I have to be there as I am the 'projectionist' for the movie this Saturday.

Something else we need is a decent radio station for the shut ins and others to listen to on their radios. The more powerful Christian radio stations are very weak in this area. I know a good more local broadcasting station would be great...or if we could get the big guys to jack up the power so it would reach this area better. I wrote to a radio station and told them about the situation...lack of decent reception and decent listening...and they are going to let the General Manager and the Chief Engineer know. So hoping that will do some good.

Anybody else have a program to draw in more people to the church?

Our church has several. Some are co-ed volleyball in the winter. People are always inviting their friends, and when they see that these Christians can have fun too some of them keep on coming back to church. We have men's basketball in the winter, co-ed softball in the summer which is played against several other area churches. We do a community wide harvest dinner. This years was a record 318. We also do a big summer picnic at one of our members home where the community is invited. We also do a summer sports camp (like VBS) for 5 days. Those are some that we do as well as many others.

You can get this one on the computer and you can find out which radio stations they are on in your area.

nearest radio station on that list is Traverse City...too far away to get a decent signal.
