A nice GQ nugget

Got out for a whiletoday with the 8" coil from Eric and the 11" DD from Reg.
The 8" coil was nice but it falses if the coil is slightly bumped....none of my othercoils do this on the GQ and it is definately in the coil head. It was nice and sensitive to small targets but still too noisy in the bedrock.
So swapped over to the Reg 11" DD....sweet coil. Hunted with that the rest of the day in the creek. STill good sens to small targets but way quieter.
Towards the end of the day I poppped this little sucker up from 5-6"...darn near blew my ears off.

Hi Scott,
I'll check out another 8in coil I have here from the same batch. I'll go and bang it against some rocks on the beach.
You have done an excellent job with the mods to the Goldquest and congratulations on finding a nice nugget.
Eric.

Tested it at home outside and could not duplicate the falsing again. It was deffinately only when the head was bumped and notthe wire or connector..tried all that in the field. The 8" definately has better sens to small gold as I did get to test it in the field on some test nugs.
It is still more sensitive to ground than the 11"DD. For now there are no production DD coils for the GQ but I would say taht will change in the future. There are a few people that can make some and that may hold some over until maybe we can see Eric make some.
Please note that a DD coil will not work on a stock GQ ...the board has to be modified by someone who knows what to do. I would expect that to be done by either Bill or Reg if they choose.
The DD makes a big difference in hot ground. However...the mono is very good and just takes a little more patience to learn ground noise than a DD would.
I have been hunting with an 11" mono in some super ot ground in AZ and have had no real issues.....:)
