I was out Down town looking for a new spot to hunt when I seen an empty /vacant lot that once stood an old antibellem type house which that is what still surrounds the lot .I ve often wanted to try this spot but I really didnt know who to contact so I pulled off the main road on to a side street and walked to the lot and started detecting around where an old walk way was I was finding the usuall Iron nails shallow pull tabs and screw caps a few wheaties and then I got a hit about 10 to 10 1/2 inches down that was showing pull tab well I normaly dont dig pull tabs but this one was so deep I had to because all of the other pull tabs I dug were shallow BINGO a 1893 5$ DOLLAR GOLD Piece WOO HOO . Then it rained BLAH .Frank Bunkley
 
Man, I bet your heart was racing on that one!! <img src="/metal/html/lol.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":lol"> I've had a few things send a shiver up my spine but a gold coin has never been one of them. That sure will be a day you never forget. FAntastic find Frank!!!!!
 
..if so, $5.00 gold coins register around where an indian penny hits on my explorer. Just curious as to what your swinging? Congrats.

Sold one of my Explorers but still have one to hunt with, will be hunting a plantation myself on the west side of Mobile next weekend if the weather holds out .. I'll give ya a call.
