A Patriotic kind of hunt!

Picked up where I left off yesterday morning hunting the edges of sidewalks and roads. First find was the American Flag laying nestled down in some tall grass. 1st over all good target was the sterling ring from about a 4 inch depth. Did manage 5 wheat cents to use in our clubs monthly and on going wheatie bingo. 5 you ask? Yup, 5. The bottom cent is actually 2 wheat cents somehow stuck together with Lincoln showing on both sides. One side is a 1944 and the other is 1945. Besides the usual junk, I got 9 items of clad and Memorial cents for my shortened hunt. Lawn day today and want to beat the heat while the temps are still in the 80's. Off to beat the heat. F 75 LTD, 11dd coil, B P mode, (grass getting tall) sen 85, disc 4, 4h tones and G B 73. HH jim tn

Do all old guys mow their yard on Thursday? Is it some sort of unspoken thing? The old guy that lives next door causes me more work and trouble with the missus everytime he works out raking leaves, mowing, cleaning gutters, washing windows, staining his deck, etc...the wife says its time for me to do exactly what he is doing, the very minute he is doing it! :ranting: He even shovels the snow off the ROOF of his house! He mows on thursdays incedentally! oh, nice finds Jim! good luck at bingo:buds:

Funny about mowing. Both of my neighbors on each side of me started mowing shortly after I started. I don't know about old guys mowing on Th. I'll check with Elton and see if he does. My wife never says a thing about all those other things you mentioned. She just starts doing them and makes me feel guilty. LOL HH jim tn

Oh no I think some tongue lashing is about to happen here as soon as Elton gets up from his afternoon nap. I sold my house and live in an apartment. I let those other guys do all that out door stuff for me. That guy is cutting the grass now. Sometimes I watch him and no I don't want to trade places with him. My honey due list is very short, "Take me shopping!" :) Yes dear..... Great hunt Jim......Z

PS: Nice finds Jim.... Is that a good pocket knife..??

Funny, I saw a hand made sign about 4'x5' on a guys lawn that read 'RALPH, CUT YOUR GRASS' then one on another neighbors lawn that read the same, 'RALPH, CUT YOUR GRASS. Apparently, Ralph is busy doing something else on Thursdays.

Steve, Ralph is probably out detecting. Can't bother with his yard work when finds are waiting to be found.
Elton, the little pocket knife is a Buck.
Z, your remedy for house and yard care sounds like a plan to me.
Thanks everyone. HH jim tn

We also did that Elton, checked into condos. But do you want to pay for a new roof or new swimming pool or new driveway or lobby. A friend of ours has a condo and her part of the bill to fix pool and some work on the lobby is $27,000. Na just give me the yearly increase. .......Z

Hi Jim
Ive been thinking about doing the sidewalk hunting. Ive never done it. Any pointers? What do people say" home owners" while you are out there. Ive read to look for the old squarish sidewalks
Thanks Rob

My interest was for a DEL-WEB community....... I'll look into that cost extra for sure.

That would not be a good surprise..I'd have to sell some detectors LOL
