A piece of Sunday silver.:fisher:

Ventured out after Church this morning to a spot that had some age and size, but a lot of it historically being un-productive ground. I selected a spot near a big old magnolia tree and after about 15 minutes of swinging I finally got a signal worth digging. It turned out to be a 1925 wheat cent. About 3 or 4' away got another good hit and from 4" popped a no date s mint S L quarter. Worked that area and outward for another 1 1/2 hours and recovered one more coin, a 1966 Memorial. Go Figure! What you see on the plate is all I dug save for two nickel range foil readings. F 75 LTD in B P mode, sen 85, disc 4 and 3h tones. The B P mode sure shortens tall grass. HH jim tn

That's a great bit of work there! :clapping: Just hunting under a nice shady magnolia tree sounds like the way to relax!
Mud.

Great finds Jim. We know how hard this TN clay is this time of year, just like a brick. What type of coil were you having success with, the 11DD, 5DD or the 6.5 elliptical concentric?

I've been using the 5" DD, but this particular spot the 11" DD would be fine. Very little targets of any kind save for the occasional piece of iron. Yeah, have to be selective on spots right now with everything being so dry and brick hard. Gotta think about where to go and this morning I hunted a little along a ditch. Little direct sun hits it and thus not as dry and hard. 2 wheat cents was it, though, of any consequence. Think rain! HH jim tn
