A question about depth of 8" and 10.5" coil

Friday night question,:cheers: What is the difference in depth from the 10.5" coil and the 8" coil? :detecting: Would it make a big difference in a beach setting? :shrug: I know that using a bigger coil is easier at the beach, but I am just curious about the depth between the two coils. All input appreciated.

I have both of this coil.
10.5" goes Little bit deeper than 8". Better ground coverage .Great for open and "clear" fields.
8" is very helpful in trash area's.QMP work's faster with this coil.Balance of detector its much better.
Another thing: Bigger coin= Bigger difference between deep of coils

Thanks for the input. That is what I was thinking from my limited use of both coils. I have pretty much stopped using them in favor of the Coiltek Platypus. I really like the Platypus and how it handles mineralization and it has great depth.

I've heard Colitek works great. But its almost impossible to get any in Poland.Only Excelerator ( I've got 5" and i love it ;))
 
Fllawboy, how big is your platypus coil? It sounds like your a "happy camper" on that one. I am still thinking of "down the road a bit", getting a WOT 15 incher or something like that. Golly, maybe the platypus IS a wot, I'm not sure?? At any rate, just curious, and do you still get enough sensitivity with your platypus? Marc.
 
Marc the platypus is (I think) 8x14. I like it a lot, it is very stable. I just purchased a WOT off of ebay this weekend and will be back in FL to try it out next weekend. The Platypus, to me, is a little more sensitive than the stock coil. I also feel that it is very stable in mineralized soil. It also looks cool, I know that is not important, but it really does look cool. When I get back to FL I will be trying out the WOT on the Beach and let you know how it compares to the platypus. My gut feeling is that it will be deeper!

Hey, witcher! I've got that 5" excellerator coil too, and it's a "tight" little coil for differentiating between the targets. It has great seperation of the targets, although it dosen't cover the ground as quick, but in a real trash area, it's terriffic. Marc.
