A Question of Balance

Has anyone found a simple way to prevent the F75 rolling over when put down on the ground? Looking for a "stabiliser" that is non intrusive whilst detecting.

Sometimes I rotate my coil flat to stabilize better, but I am not comfortable doing that often. I usually carry a rag in my pocket like a football referee and lay my MD down on its side so that is stays clean and unscratched. They make a bi-pod attachment, but it adds weight and costs that I don't see the need for- stewardship you know.

just let it roll over won't hurt anything!

I've learned the angle to position it when laying it down to dig so the head phone cord doesn't pull it over, which seemed to be the biggest cause of it tipping over for me. HH jim tn

I have seen a detector stand that attaches to the upper portion of the rod that fits most brands- selling for around $19 or so on the big E auction site

Thanks for all your comments. It would appear that there is no simple solution and I will just have to continue being a little frustrated by the roll over effect when I put the machine on the ground.

Make your own stand out of 1" pvc pipe and fittings. You will need 5 pieces of pipe 2" long, two tee's(one cut in half to connect to the rod), two 90's, two endcaps and a rattle can of black Krylon paint for plastic. I used super glue to put everything together after a dryfit. I also used two zipties to help hold it on the rod after I clipped it on(it does clip secure, the ties are just for a little insurance). Just glue the 2" pieces into the fittings, paint and you are done. It works like a champ, doesnt get in the way at all while detecting, and keeps the machine off of the ground while you can also spin it to lay in the back seat of your truck or car if you want to. Easy and worth the 15 minutes of time to make it!

Here are a couple of pictures. Kinda dirty but you should get the idea. The piece of pvc from the top tee to the other tee is probably 3" long, the others are 2", you could play with it to get the right look for you though. I have them on both of my 75's. Leaves room to mount the SunRay pinpointer too!
