Geico totalled our motorhome....although it was not damaged as bad as that would make it sound....they decided that even though there were 3 holes in the roof they would have to strip the whole roof system and start from scratch...so too expensive and they totalled it.
The roof can be patched easily as the holes were only 1 inch in diameter but that is not a legitimate fix for insurance.
So they made us an offer...and tried to lowball us. We fought back and provided documentation as to what similar motorhomes go for.
They finally came back with an offer of about 500 more than I paid for it orignally ( although I put an extra 2500 in it).
So we are going to buy it back from them for a grand and it won't even be a salvage...it will be a regular title. I can repair the roof with RV rubber roof patch and fix the headliner. The only expensive repair is replacing the hot water heater but ebay is good for that.
We will get a chack afetr we buy it back for just under what we paid for it. Basically we will get an almost free motorhome that will be almost as good as when i bought it.
Thank God. That was a nightmare to deal with...can't imagine going through it with a house.
We finally got into an apartment and had cable/internet installed today so I am global now.
My wife said our moving days are over.....I think I agree.
Now time to detect......hey..Brandy...we need to get hooked up.
thanks guys.
