A WEIGHTY FACT!!!---(SE & E TRAC)

D&P-OR

Well-known member
I found this interesting & thought others might to.----I have 2 pair of precise scales--I weighed the SE & E Trac with the 11" coils w/coil covers--loaded with batteries (hunt ready).--I even weighed them each two different times on the 2 scales to make sure.---SE weighed 4lbs. 4oz.---E Trac weighed 4lbs. 1oz.------That surprised me-I would have guessed the other way around.------As far as the "feel" of the two machines--I think the main reason the E Trac feels lighter is because of the changed angle of the handle (15 degree change).----Anyway, that's what my scales showed.------Del

Guys----My wife just brought this to my attention--the SE weighed 4lbs. 3oz------according to my scales the E Trac was 2 ounces lighter than the SE.-------Del

Maybe the weight difference is in the detailing? Seriously, I think the screen, although larger, is probably lighter than the original with the developements of newer technology. Just my take.

And I thought I was super man last night, now I know why!

Charles I think you may be "right on" in that assessment.----I measured the control box on both detectors (SE & E Trac) and the only REAL difference I could see in the size was that the E Trac is "deeper" on the top of the control box.----Incidentally-the Sunray cover will fit---you just have to pull it down (it does fit more snug than before but it's because of this increased depth of the top of the box).---BTW-I DON'T work for Sunray!! ha----Don't know about the Minelab cover-it might fit to.----HOW'D I GET ON THIS?--I was talking about weight!!--------Del

Changeing the handle.---Boy, that's one I hadn't thought of.--The ideas good but the whole thing is in one mold (piece).--I'm sure Minelab thought of that long ago and didn't want us doing that. ha---I've had them all (XS-EX 2-SE & now the E Trac).--The more I study, experiment with & use the E Trac--the more convinced I am that it's well worth the upgrade (at least for me).--There's a thing or two about it that I'm not absolutely "wild" about but that's true with every detector I've ever owned.---I've yet to get my paws on the PERFECT detector because it doesn't exist (and probably never will).----On another note--and something I found interesting.--The control box on the E Trac is something of an "optical illusion" (when looked at compared to the SE).--It looks larger & taller-but it's not.---That appears to be due to the fact that a larger screen has been put on the E Trac & they no longer have labels ABOVE the touch pads.--As I said before, the only thing I see different as far as size goes-is the "deeper" (thicker) top part of the housing on the control box.-----I know all this isn't necessarily about operation & performance----but it's fun to discuss ALL ASPECTS of our new E Trac--right??-----Del
