About a year ago, my sister-in-law called...

Pete in MI

New member
said my brother has prostate cancer and I should get checked. The visit to the VA clinic the other day was eye opening in many ways but was told my prostate is enlarged (not causing any problems though) and some level of something was slightly elevated. So going to be scheduled for a more thorough check up in the future.

I will be getting free medicines...especially the one for the glaucoma. Couldn't afford it. My left eye has the glaucoma which was noticed back in the late 80s. At $180 a bottle which lasts a month and no insurance it has gone uncared for for most of that time. My right eye = well let's say I cannot read the large E at the top of a wall eye chart. The two are good for depth perception while driving but reading road signs is getting harder...got to get closer to read them. I did check with the State of Michigan awhile back hoping they could help get the meds for my eye and was told they would help me get disability from the Feds when I go blind but would not offer any more help than that. (Now you see why I don't carry a weapon...what a pain trying to sight the gun in the first place...a shotgun is a little hard to conceal - just kidding.)

Leelan will be walking soon so have a shotgun anywhere near is not a safe option. The dogs will have to do their jobs.

So anyway the good news is after yet another delay (have to see an ophthalmologist so he can say yeah I have glaucoma) I will get the eye drops needed for the eyes. Last pair of glasses I got I had to return...double vision...looked like two things say semis one on top of another..or signs one on top of the other. So if I had to shoot a gun which is the right target???

Oh well. At least I am getting free medical from the VA - finally.

The cat scan for Sherry didn't show much...it didn't even see something that everyone else knows is there - go figure. She has an appt on the 25th with an internal organs guy...we will see what is said then.

Never a dull day around here :)

Oh yeah they did ask questions if I was fearful and felt hopeless...if I ever felt suicidal...etc.

Interestingly the nurse asked me about the most stressful event in my life...those who have been around know about the almost nuclear war we were within the last 30 seconds of bombers going down the runways and missile silos opening....anyway after telling the nurse about it and the nurse agreed that must have been horrifying....she then took my blood pressure = which normally is below normal - was now above normal....go figure....they are giving me drugs for blood pressure too

Well you have been through so many trials, troubles and disappointments and you will get through these also! I pray all will go well with both of you and I am not sure I would take the blood pressure med until I was sure I had high or low! Talking about the stress during the time of the disaster that almost happened would raise anyone's blood pressure! May God be with you and keep working all things out for your's and Sherry's good and for His purpose in Jesus' name I pray!

My cousin, Lois, took her Computer to Best Buy to have it checked on concerning something she had purchased before and wasn't hooked up to have a second hard drive to use and after leaving the store carrying the Computer and the small hard drive version, she fell and cut her chin deeply and was taken to the ER to be taken care of....she skinned her knees and elbows and etc. and was bleeding profusely. She was under a lot of stress and embarrassed from falling and when her blood pressure was taken it was 155 over ? But when she had the 5 stitches taken out, her blood pressure was 122/72 or in her normal range. Stress does a lot to a person, causing high blood pressure, nervousness, hives and many problems, so be careful which med you are taking for which blood pressure!
Her Computer survived after falling 2 to 3 ft. in front of her....did better than her and she says it is working fine and didn't even break, but she didn't have any broken bones either but could have easily for she is 75 years young!

I am so glad and thankful to Jesus for your both getting medical help now with it not costing an arm and a leg! May God Bless! Amen  Ma Betty
