about the F75 BC process mode

I'm reading through the F75 Special Edition online manual and wonder if the bottle cap process mode is effective in high trash areas where steel bottle caps are an issue. For those who have the newer F75 or T2 SE enhanced, did you try that process mode and did you find it effective ? Any downsides of note ?

If it's any good, I'm hoping Fisher will implement it on their other detectors in the future.

I have had 2 of the F75's with the BC processor and my latest has been upgraded to the latest DST version.

I have used the BC processor on both machines and it does work as stated, but I have never seen the need for it.

It could be that if one was to just select BC and run it for month or so they would get to the point where they couldn't do without it.

But for me it is just a tool that I seldom use.

Good luck,

Thanks Ron. I can understand not needing that function but in certain circumstances I'd really like to have it or at least try it out. As much as I like my F19, I find I can't trust its VDI when it comes to bottle caps, at least not fully.

I see in your line up you have a F5, my brother has a F5 and he is hard to beat when we hunt together. For the most part we hunt for silver and that is what we use for our score.

Just the other day he was telling me that he could tell the difference between a coin and bottle cap buy running coil from tip to toe and a coin will hold up all the way while a bottle cap will give give you some bad number on the tip and toe.

I think you would be happy with a F75, lots on board tools to work with.

I use the "raise the coil over target" trick with the F5 and I would say that it works about 9 out of 10 times on bottle caps. ID number typically goes down 9-10 from original ID. Not so with the F19. I printed out the T2 SE enhanced manual's page pertaining to bottle caps and flat iron trash and other tricks to identify them and will try them. I will try swinging the coil from tip to toe over target to see if it would be more accurate with the F19. David Johnson had a trick where he would turn the coil sideways and move the coil back and forth across the target. He used it with great success with the sniper coil. I find this impractical with a bigger coil though.

Anyway, I'm moving away from the original post intent. I'm hoping that sometime in the future we won't need to perform tricks of any kind to separate bottle caps from coins with DD coils. Perhaps the BC mode of the F75 and T2 is a start.

I do most of my hunting in trashy parks. I find that the BC mode is not quite as good at separation for my needs. I prefer the FA mode where I hunt as most parks are newer and the clad is not deep. I have lots and lots of them nasty crown caps and for the most part, I can tell them from quarters by raising the coil and swinging over the target. If the target is a crown cap, the numbers will fall quickly but hold steady over a quarter. I do sometimes get fooled by an older, rusty, flattened crown cap.
