Last week I had done some research and found an old hunt site, I went and got permission and then my machine started acting weird almost like it wasn't ground balancing itself correctly. My SE was acting stupid to the point I had called Sandy and had it in a box all ready to go to Vegas for Mine Lab to fix. I called Ralph who sold it to me and he helped me to correct it, nothing against Mine Lab, they would have fixed it too, however, I was able to hunt with it an hour after I called Ralph not ten days from now. That was about four days ago. In these last four days I've found literally 50 coins all between 1854 and 1909, thirty are Indians which some you can't read the dates because of the fertilizer has caused black crud to attach to the green pantina underneath, an 1867 two cent piece, 1854 seat lib quarter, about ten nickels, shield with rays and no rays and v nickels, 6 seat lib dimes, none are key dates but 5 are in really good condition, my very first 1900 Barber half, and today a seat lib half 1861 o, no not a die crack or confederate. About ten buttons and ten bullets (lead, white from age) and a silver plated serving spoon. 5 days ago I hadn't found a seated liberty anything yet and had I sent my machine to Mine lab, I wouldn't have any still. Ralph Degraw, you are my friend for life and I sincerely hope you find a 200 year old, rich, virgin site with a kind, loving, sandy loam soil that protects your finds until you recover them. Thank you sir, a pleasure knowing you. To all who read this: I am not suggesting you all call Ralph to fix your machines, but I'll tell you right now, I am incredibly glad I bought my machine from a man who obviously is an expert with the products he uses and sells. He's kind of like the car mechanic you call; who over the phone tells you exactly whats wrong with your car, when he hasn't even seen it yet and you walk away wondering how in the heck did he figure that out so quick? The only metal detector equipment I'm gonna buy from someone else is the stuff Ralph doesn't sell.
Thanks again Ralph. I will post pictures next week, in the mean time, does anyone know how to get the black crud off an Indian Head's green pantina without damaging it. Not knowing the dates is like having unopened Christmas presents laying around a week after Christmas, it's killing me.
