ACE 150 vs. ACE 250

For about the same money from Kellyco, I could get the ACE 150 with both coils, or the ACE 250 with just the 6.5 x 9...

I am in the Charleston, SC area and would be doing general hunting in everything from tot lots to fields to old structures. Looking for coins, jewelry, and any relics I would be lucky enough to find.

Which would be the "best" choice, in your opinions and why?

Also, do all of the coils on the Garrett ACE's interchange?

Your help and opinions would be greatly appreciated!

I have both, only because I made a water machine out of the 150. I would go for the 250, more notch segments, pinpoint, more hunting modes to name just a few. The electronics are exactly the same in both machines, just more features on the 250. If you're going to be in tot lots, building foundations, around a lot of metal structures, get the sniper coil, worth the extra bucks. And yes, the 3 coils fit the 150/250 just the same.

and, if you continue to hunt with that pinpoint button pushed in, you are basically hunting in an all metal mode at will sound off on every metallic target.

Ace 250 i own one and i think it is great it has more features bigger depth as well as the pinpoint feature its not much more money but it is an upgrade up from the 150 and all ace 250/150 coils will work on either machine.

To me the first accessory coil would be the Sniper coil. Followed by the Propointer. Seems the big companies don't have that package.

I went out with my 250 and just avoided the pinpoint button-had to work harder, raising the coil, slowing down the sweep speed, etc. Then I got in a trashy area and I realized the feature I would miss most with the 150-programming. I always add the foil icon in the coins mode to try to get a few more rings. If Garrett would have an Ace 150 with just one programmable mode it would be worth considering.

Ace 250 hands down. I gotta have my pinpoint mode.. If I ran a 150, I'd probably run the sniper
coil most of the time. I bet using the large coils on the 150 is a PIA compared to the 250.
The lack of the pinpoint mode would drive me batty. And I'm sure the holes I would dig
would be bigger.

If you check online you may find a packaged ACE250 that comes with the 9X12 coil for under $300.00. My wife and I both recently purchased ours from Famous Tresures in Land O Lakes Florida. They have a web site and if you email then they may still have this package deal or may still be able to get one for you.

Good Luck!

Merry Christmas to all!
