Ace-250 got me two silver rings Sunday

This would be the second Ace I've had. I bought one for my wife when they first came out but she didn't like the balance and it falsed too much in the sand where she likes to hunt so I sold it. (I've got hot ground). I got another Ace-250 in trade a few weeks back. Thought I'd use in the woodchips and see how it would work. Have to say I was impressed with it in the woodchips. Hit nice and hard on foil and coins and the iron discrimination was great. Makes me want to take a closer look at a Garrett for my ground.

I dug everything for about 30 minutes and after chasing some real tiny alum spangles (thank God for the Uniprobe) I trusted the iron disc and kept it in jewelry mode for the remaining two hours and just recovered all the non-ferrous stuff. I was confident if there had been any gold there I would have found it. Keepers were some change and two small, real nice silver rings. One with stone that read one notch below zinc and another that read just low enough to give a medium tone. Small rings.

Anyway, I was impressed with it in the chips. I'd like to see a 10x14 DD coil for it.

But you'll never see a 10x14 DD coil for it. I email them on interest in a concentric coil that they said they haven't made one since 1980.
But if they do come out with one I'll be in line waiting with money in hand...

The Ace is pretty good, thats sure. It isnt everything the hype has it set up to be, but it does a great job for it's $200 price tag. It is a great little tot-lot swinger, as you've found. It is light and can be keep moving fast to cover ground. It hits strongly, even a little deeper, if you move the coil briskly along
Rumor has it the large coil is a keeper, too.

But Im wondering if you will sell me your Golden? I miss the one I traded, and want to get another.
Since you're the one who really made me want to have one, it seems only fitting that you sell me one.

It likes gold and hits real hard on it so you won't miss much. Did your wife run her sensitivity low - about 4 bars or less. If not that would be her problem. We have volcanic soil here in Oregon which ain't the best to hunt in but the 250 works fine if you set it right.

They have DD coils - just not for the 250.

Supprisingly the Bounty Hunter Tracker IV does a decent job in our sand and that is what she hunts with now. Funny how different ground conditions affect our hobby. A machine will be the greatest thing since sliced bread in one area and be unfit for use somewhere else. wacko:

Yeah, I was looking at the GTP-1350 and saw it has one. Actually have a spent a lot of time looking at the GTP since it first came out but wasn't sure if it would do well here. The Ace performance has given me more confidence that a ground tracking Garrett might do well in my ground. Lord willing and if the creek don't rise I'll get one to try out next year.

THe GTP along with the latest GTI's have a new mineral chip in them for handling nasty ground. The boys in Australia ( where they have really nasty ground ) requested it and Garrett accomodated .
