ace 250

I have a gta1000 and I am looking to buy another detector. Would the ace be a step up or a step down from what i have now. I just don't feel i am finding those deeper coins I should be.

The gta 1000 is a great machine. I had one years ago, but regretfully gave it up. I wouldn't really say that the Ace 250 would be a step down. It's a great machine, too. A coin magnet. The gta1000 is much better on the beach, though. Technically, I guess the gta is a "higher end" machine, but if your thinkin' about getting the Ace GO FOR IT. You can't beat it for the money.

Just my two cents worth. Good luck and happy hunting!

Do you have the 1000 with Powermaster? If so the 250 wouldn't exactly be a step up. A few years back the 1000 was Garrett's top-of-the-line machine and many still rely on it as their main machine. You may not be finding deeper coins because they just ain't there. There is a long standing myth that old old coins are buried halfway to China. They ain't. You might try a bigger coil if you feel you need to go deeper. Coils determine depth - not detectors.
