Ace 250

I have about decided to purchase the Ace 250 to replace my aged ADS II. I use both the 7" and 12" coils with it. How is the additional depth with the larger coil on the Ace 250. Any trouble with discrimination due to multiple targets under loop, etc.

Seeing more targets under the larger 9x12 coil just goes with the territory. No different than any other large coil. Being elliptical it covers the ground fast. I hope to use it tomorrow on a baseball field. All the 250 coils go deep. I would suggest buying the sniper coil too. It will punch 6 inches or more in good soil.

You will have the same issues with a large coil on all detectors with more then one target at the same time. The large coil on the ACE 250 is very light and remains very sensitive to tiny objects. I only use either the large coil or the sniper coil. The stock coil just sits in the basement collecting dust. The machine with the sniper coil usually comes along with me for all hunts. You just never know when you get to a hot spot and need a small coil to work it.

You'll have newer technology with the 250. Any large coil will present problems with multiple targets but if you raise the coil a couple of inches off the ground you can alleviate some of that. You'll get more coverage with the big coil and 2-3 inches more depth. Most 250 users leave the big coil on all the time. It's very sensitive to small objects.
