ace coil weight?

cory in fla

New member
i was wondering is their a big difference in the weight between the sniper coil and the stock coil? is the sniper coil is made of the same epoxy stuff as the stock coil?

The sniper coil is extremely light. After swinging the stock coil, or even worse the 9x12, you'll nearly throw the Ace out of your hand on your first swing! :heh:

the standard coil weighs 420 grams and the sniper coil weighs 320 grams.
I weighed both these coils on my home scales which only give you a ball park weight. There is 31.4 grams to the ounce, just in case you need to convert back to imperial measure.
I have to agree with Hobbes though. You do feel like it will go over your shoulder on that first swing!
Mick Evans.

The stock coil on the Ace is a feather weight as far as metal detectors go. With the sniper it is like swinging a stick. If you think the Ace is heavy, go swing one of the other detector.

is the sniper coil is made of the same epoxy stuff as the stock coil? No, its a two-piece shell type.

When it comes to the Ace 250, extremes are better... The sniper for those trashy areas (run it a max. sens.!!!) and the 9x12 for larger, cleaner expanses of land. The 9x12 can still accurately seperate and ID coins amongst relatively mild trashy areas.

You don't want to hunt an area with the stock coil and then have to return and re-hunt the area with the 9x12 because you think you may have missed deeper targets. Hunt once, clean it out.
