started out today looking for gold rings with my ace at a park down the road but after 30min digging heaps of can slaw i gave up & started looking for old coins with my other "M" detector found a 1952 silver shilling & a beat up silver signet ring after about an hour the big "M" detector had flat battery's so out came the trusty old ace again started finding heaps of 1c-2c coins a little wile later i dug up a 1951 penny then a 1955 half penny next came a 1952 silver threepence had a bit of a quiet patch then i popped out a 1946 half penny & a 1964 penny after that all i found were more 1c-2c coins + tons of junk.
all up i found 56 coins & only 3 were useable  3- 5c coins
i also found a cool old fanta bottle wile digging another target this is the first one i"v ever found a whole one :clapping:

Are the unusable ones obsolete or just beat up? Great job on the silvers. I went out today hoping for some. Got one good one.

Glad to see a hunt from down under. You need more trash cans down there!

yeah the 1c-2c coins became obsolete in 1991 so are copper value only & i found 47 of them yesterday, there are 1000s of millions of them in the ground over here. the old pre decimal coins were made obsolete in 1966 so there's no chance of popping down the milk bar & buying lollies with these ones  most of the Penny's i find are only copper value as well but the odd one may be worth a small amount of $$ its the silver coins that are the collectible ones & some are worth big $$$.
as for the junk this was a good site not to much junk at all some areas i hunt have a carpet of junk witch makes hunting for oldies very hard, 98% of the junk in the pic was a high/bell tone & for every high tone i dig there's 20-30 mid tones i leave in the ground so that's the reason i don't dig a lot of gold in the grass.

Those pre decimals look pretty good Lazy. I pulled out a 1916 penny with my big M a couple of days back. First year that the Aussie moint made them.
Those three pences are tiny! I found my first one only a few weeks after I bought my Ace. It was it's first Pre decimal find It was only a few mills under sand! Near Nelson bay, just out of Newcastle.
You are doing really well on the old stuff. I'm starting to get a bit interested in finding silver coins lately. So I hope to have a few pass under my coil soon.
