Actual weight with batteries

What is the actual weight of the Explorer XS, Explorer II, and the Explorer SE with batteries installed? I keep hearing about their weight but I wouldn't think they are any or much heavier than some of the other top of the line detectors.

I have read that the XS and Explorer II are about the same weight? The SE weighs somewhat less than the 2 earlier versions? I have looked at the Minelab catalog and cannot find where the weight of their products is listed. I am tempted to purchase an Explorer but would like to know the weight so I can compare that figure with that of my present detector. I just weighed my detector on a very accurate scale and it weighs in at 5.12# with batteries and a six inch coil installed.

and the SE is lighter than the XS. I don't have any scales to weigh it on but it's easy to handle. That's with a 10" coil.
Hope this helps
Mike

Thanks Mike, That is lighter than I would have guessed. I wonder where the too heavy thing evolved from? Balance? Even with battery weight added it would compete weight wise to much of its competition.

Most of the complaints I've heard over the years about the Explorer came from folks that really just didn't care for it anyway.
It feels heavy because the balance & ergonomics design seems weird at first, Minelab has constantly improved on the Explorer with every new series from the original S model, the XS, EX II and now the new SE.
They made improvements in every series and started shaving weight off with the EX II and now if you were to pick up a XS, then a SE you can feel the difference.
It just feels better all the way around to me.
The way I hunt can better be described as pushing or steering the coil over the surface, takes the weight issue away ... period!
The extra padded hand grip on the SE and the lesser overall weight makes it an easy detector to use.
