Adding a coil

I am going to get a smaller coil for my EXll, my narrowed list are the Minelab 8", Sun-ray 8" stealth, or a platypus or joey. My goal is higher trash areas, more ease of pinpointing and less noise, and just a better performer than the standard 10". What say you guys?

I use my Minelab 8 in. coil in very trashy areas and it makes a big difference. The only downside is less depth. I've found many silver coins that were masked by trash when using the bigger coils. A smaller coil was definitely worth the investment.

Don't have the Joey coil but have the other three. If your looking for a smaller coil with good depth my vote is for the Sunray 8" coil. The minelab 8" coil is a good one too but I feel that in trash the Sunray 8" sniffs out those iffy one's a little better. The Sunray 8" coil is definitely a lot lighter than the other two coils and is a joy to swing. Love my platypus coil too, but would buy a smaller coil first before I would buy a coil that measures 8.5"X11".

Good luck with which ever coil you buy:detecting:

The 6X8 SEF coil is the one you want..... You will have to get on a waiting list at Kellyco if you want a new one or pay newly near price for a used one on the forums if you can find one.... Also, If you have the stock Explorer II coil a worth while upgrade is the 11" Pro coil... wildherre
