Additional tests/usage of the Goldquest SS.
I took the Goldquest SS up to the lake where there is brought in sand over the Red Clay Tennessee soil. I used the best delay 10uS and using the slowest, most sens. SAT setting for this usage. When sweeping an area I noticed a slight threshold rise that was not the normal for the area. Then I noticed the sand was wet, it was wet from people showering off yesterday from an outside provided shower. This area of our county water supply comes from a cave we call 'cave springs' and is very mineralized. Apparently this wet sand from this water supply gave a slight rise and I will repeat 'slight' to the threshold, did not interfere with my target finding. This happening gave me thought to test the Goldquest SS a bit differently.
I went into the water in the swimming area up to my kneecaps and using the same setting worked a few minutes with no threshold rises or falsing. The swimming area has 6" to a foot of sand over Tennessee Red Clay, here I hit a number of targets and did not dig as experience told me they were bottle caps that had been buried by bulldozers that leveled the bottom for making this swimming area. I am going to remove them when the lake falls to winter level so that next year only quality targets will be in these areas. I got into the car and drove to another place in the water that has no sand and is Tennessee Red Clay base but is almost rock...we call it "Chirt." Here no targets will go deep but it is a different substrate to check. The Goldquest SS did fine, no setting changes and did fine.
I don't know if this information helps anyone but it adds some spice to the soup.
One additional off subject item. I have lost 11 pounds in two weeks by eliminating all rice, 90 to 98% of all potatoes and no bread at supper or last meal of the evening. Eating more meat and larger salads and more steamed vegs. and I am not hungry feeling at all... (I'm 59 and have a good appetite).
