Got a new video done from my last couple hunts. Finally getting back into the swing of things with the detector and video camera.

Michelob, aka Cousin Mike, will be out here next week so I hope to have a few more videos from our hunts that week.

Thanks for watching!!

Thanks for the video, sure helps us snow bound folks up north. Great hunt!

Great video ! I have a new Se coming this week and am soaking up all I can. Randy in Texas

[size=large]so was all these bullets from a battlefield or maybe a campsite or shooting range or what do you think? i'm not into relics so just curious.

Great hunt. Did you ever get those wheaties to separate from each other? Was curious as to the condition of the reverse sides.

Thanks for the video - it was really clear despite the high winds. Nice finds - those Minie balls were especially neat. Have you found other Civil War era relics at that site too? HH!

Hey Bob..... nice video. But... i bet you got all kinds of PMs from the purists who passed out every time you RUBBED on of those merc with you fingers LOL. I hunt with people that just FREAK when thats done.... i mean these guys put them in holders until they get back to the truck to put them in soap and water. Me.... i say rub them. I have to know and dont want to find out 5 hours laters... its like Christmas:drool:. Wish i had your video skills....nice finds.

Those guys carring around the little plastic bottles filled with water...I hear ya.

I agree with Dew somewhat, although I don't rub them. I just apply a generous amount of spit then I sort of dob them with my finger to get the dirt loose. Then I blot them on my pants. It gets them clean enough to identify and doesn't scratch them up. Then they go into a pocket. Around here it is very sandy. To wipe as shown in the video would put a large batch of scratches on silver (like a big distracting mess of scratched). So to me it is a no-no to wipe off dirty silver like that - not a big deal on a merc or rosy but wipe-out a seated or two and it'll make you sick. Hey, I found something great - but I screwed it up... lesson learned here.

I couldn't help myself with a three cent silver I found last year. There was a dark spot over the last number in the date. The guy who owned the house wanted his half of the worth... so I scraped it a bit with my fingernail. Well there are now scratches on the date - dag-nabbit. It has a low relief date which made it hard to see. Still a nice coin but it would have been better if I hadn't scratched it.

Thanks for all the replys y'all!!!!

Most of these were probably from a camp site or small "picket post" . The area I live in had a decent anount of CW activity so in most areas of town, you are bound to find a bullet or 2. All those in the video were found in a couple of local parks.

Nope, I decided to leave them togehther. I too was curious as to the obverse, probaby still has some original mint luster, but it is too cool of a find the way it is to seperate them and then only have "just" 2 more wheaties.

With the exception of a knapsack hook, I have not. Although others I know have. I am predominately a coin hunter so unless a relic falls closer to the coin range, I will probably pass it up. My hunting time is so limited, that I have to cherry pick more than I would like to.

Hey BF....i found a way that you dont have to worry about those small scratches you might make when sneaking a peak...... gouge those suckers with a digger :rage: NOT RECOMMENDED. Seriously im a little more careful about it than that, but im also not stupid to the value of a coin dug out of the ground to an investor. Im glad to see more and more people doing vedios... what a learning too the internet and technology is having.

YES!!! I have had several comments on that. I do this for the fun and thrill of the hunt, never for the money, In fact I have never sold a single coin I have found (except clad). If I dig something up, I am not waiting to see my prize. If I ruin the value of a coin... oh well. I have several streams of income, but this is not one of them. never will be.

Do I begrudge anyone who thinks different or disagrees with me? No way, it is their coin and they can handle them any way that suits them. It is fine by me. :bouncy:

Most of those minnies looked like drops. WTG!

Great video Dr Bob.. Glad to see your still digging
