Had part of the afternoon off today and went for a short hunt with We metmy friend Roy at a nearby park that they are completely renovating. Roy had been there since early morning but I had to work 1/2 day and then run some errands. When I arrived at the park I noticed that they had taken a lot more of the equipment out of the park than the last time I had been there. I parked my vehicle and noticed Roy all the way on the other side of the park. I got all my equipment out and started walking that way. He said that the area he was hunting was the last part of the ground to be dug out. We hunted the area for a while and picked up some penny's and Roy moved to another part of the park. I decided to work the outside of the area and then circle inward until I got to the center. About 3/4 way into the spiral, I got a nice 38 signal on the 705. I was using the 10.5 MF DD coil and I new it was probably a dime. It appeared on the screen to be about 4 inches down so I tried to cut a plug but the dry ground just broke apart. I managed to get down about 3-4 inches and I saw the reverse side of a Merc in the bottom of the hole. I called Roy over and we took the coin up to his backpack where he had a water bottle. When the dirt was washed off this 1935 Merc emmerged. Bragged a little bit because the Merc broke the tie we had on silvers for the year. I finished up the area and found a wheatie but no more silver. I heard Roy trying to get my attention and he said he had my wheatie beat and sure enough he got a nice Indian Head to trump my wheatie. Later he found a silver Rosie and so the tie continues. I was getting really hot and started working my way toward my car. Roy left out and I went to the closet convenience store for a big drink !! We had a nice hunt and silver always makes for a good day !!!
