Air Test Comparison Between The 8" Mono Coil And 10" x 14" Mono Coil On The Infinium

Looks like the large mono coil and the smaller one are not too far off in air depth. PI's just don't work well in the air, they need a matrix to get a better reading. But, the large coil is light, covers more area, and add a little halo to the target, and it should be a killer. Because the size of the larger coil, it was picking up more electrical interference at lower threshold settings, so the results don't really justify greater depth with the smaller coil. The test was done in my living room. The tiniest target, however, the 22 lead bullet didn't fair so well with the larger coil, an expected result. But the air test did show that the higher the threshold setting, the deeper the target can be picked up.

Glad you got the big mono john. I have same results as you. In the ground the .22 will go deeper. I got one at 6" in Georgia last week with the big mono. Nice soft signal. Sometimes just a one way blip and I remove leaves and gets stronger signal with the small lead.

I did a test with the two 10x14 coils (DD vs Mono) on a jefferson nickle. Both coils got it at 11". The mono had slightly louder signal. At one foot neither got it. The depth cut off is drastic with the Infinium. I was suprised that the mono didnt get to the foot mark. I think the Infinium ignors most halos as they are mineral, except clumps of iron stuck to target.

I think you will get more good targets next year not because of more depth but because you will cover more ground with the 10x14 mono than the 8". Cant wait to see your results!

In the pic I'm hunting a Civil War battle site in Ga last week. I recovered 12 percussion caps from this small cleared area. All at about 2-3 inches. Using the big mono as you can see.

Awesome!:clapping:Thanks for sharing!:wiggle:Looking forward to your results next hunting season!

As I read more about that large mono coil, it is becoming apparent that it is an excellent coil to own.
