All Metal and Highly Oxidized Coins

I occasionally still use my Stinger and I was recently rereading the instruction manual and noticed something that may be relevant to current detectors. "For maximum depth and to avoid missing a small or very old coin, search in All Metal mode. This will prevent missing an especially old coin that is so oxidized that it will be rejected by any discrimination," I have an Indian head penny with a very heavy layer of patina. I'll have to find the coin, don't recall into which shoe box I tossed it, and can bench test this with my other detectors as well as with the Stinger.
