All Metal Hunting With C$

RLOH

Well-known member
I have been having super luck with my new, used C$ and today I had the perfect opportunity to use the all metal mode. I was hunting a large grassy hill in a park that is 75 years old. Targets were few and far between so I thought I would try the all metal. Within a short distance, I got a signal reading 36 to 38. I flipped back to my disc program and I got an ever so weak signal. I probably would have missed it because it was so weak. It did repeat though in disc. At 12 inches, I saw silver, it was a 1945 Washington quarter. The ground on this hill is very soft and wet. Two feet away I get another hit in all metal. Checked it again in disc and it was there, but weak. From 10 inches two wheaties from the 20's. I ended up with three more wheaties, all from 8 to 10 inches and all weak, but audible in disc. The lesson I learned today was this detector is deep and and deep coins can be found in disc, but a good set of phones is a neccessity. I also have a CZ6a with a Sunray probe on it and as much as I love that detector, I have not picked it up in the last three weeks since I got my C$. The C$ feels like a feather compared to the CZ. I know there is not much difference in weight, but the C$ is perfectly balanced. I guess you might be able to notice how much I like this detector. R.L.

I've also started using all-metal more and more on the Coinstrike. It's best to mainly use the Coinstrike when you first start out with it to get accustomed to it. At least it was for me, it took me a good 40-50 hours before i started getting comfortable with it. I can notice the difference in feel when I leave the C$ at home and take the CZ5 out. I think it's the rod configuration more then weight though.

I found the easiest way to tame the C$ at least for me was to notch everything OUT when I first started out with it and gradually start notching things in slowly once I got used to the tones and numbers. Even with everything notched out, you can still pick up hi coins.

I realize this is a little late but just found this post of yours.

Do you remember your settings and coil size?

That is amazing, a quarter at that depth and pennies at that depth.
