I went back to the very same spot on the lot i found the silver at and proceeded to find more brass and non Iron things which are good indicator finds, something good is not far away. if you look at the spoon its melted, on the end, I suppose the stew was really hot that day . and they also burned there tongs. and a chunk of clinker that the detector signaled on

maybe they had a fire pit in the backyard or a place they threw their junk. My back yard is a total junk pit with bottle tops, pull tabs, aluminum foil, junk metal pieces, old toothpaste tubes etc. Have to remember (back in the day), people buried garbage on their own lots / had a designated area they dumped in. Looks like battery acid chewed up that spoon. That Defiance 37 spark plug appears to be off a Model T (1909-1927) so you are in silver range for sure. Keep hunting that place Gunnar as we both know there is more waiting for you.

I like what looks like maybe brass tire caps and the old spark plug. Soak the spark plug and other iron stuff in white vinegar for a few days and all the rust will come off. Its worked great for me on nasty rusty stuff. When your done then wash it off and a light rust will form on it. Wire brush it off and get it warm in the sun and put furniture wax on it. I have some horse shoes that came out beautiful. Still maintains that old look to them. I like it better than electrolysis.

exciting finds! Like EPL said, definitely the right time frame for some silver and maybe even some gold coins? Certainly a fire of some sort...maybe a melted heap of silver somewhere?...well, Gunnar, you got the right gear and are the right man to work that place..so keep us informed.!.

you know a lot of the brass things i am finding have grinding marks on them where they have been separated from something els, makes me think they may have been melting brass, or scrapping it , may have been a scrap drive during WW2 I have the new 8x11 DD coil on order . I think that will really do nice on this lot . the sharpshooter is not going past 6" deep on dimes I bet that new coil will get to 8" the one demonstration i seen was a bit skewed on the 8" concentric , the guy was swinging it fast and you can't do that you have to swing the concentric slow if the ground is mineralized but the 8x11 was defenetly getting that 8" dime with a fast sweep which is good .
