Amazed at depth of some clad coins and newer pennies!

I have been surprized at the depth of some recently minted coins. I bet I have dug up at least a dozen coins...pennies, nickles, quarters that were 6" down on lawns and boulevards and thought for sure thay had to be silver or very old pennies. But then both of my Mercury dimes were only an inch down in the same type of locations.

I hear ya! I had a sweet 44 signal that was over 6" deep but when I dug it, it turned out to be a crummy memorial.

I was at an old Church the other day and was fooled twice like that also. Sweet sounding signal and solid ID. Dug and dug thinking silver for sure ! 1966 Roosevelt dimes. Darn !
