American Diggers

Does anybody else have a real problem with this show?
I see the damage they are doing to the area when they recover finds, and I wince. I really try to leave my recovery area with no trace that I was there. I've heard that some hobbyists out east are having problems getting permission to hunt on private land because the land-owners have seen the show and think that is how everyone acts.

I've not seen the show but have heard of it. Here in Kent County, we had a problem gaining permission to metal detect in some of the county parks because of a few individuals that used shovels to do their digging and left the parks in disarray. It took me nearly two years to convince the director to allow 'club members' the opportunity to hunt. He was convinced all metal detectorists were like those using shovels. I finally offered to demon- strate my digging technique so he could see how 'most' of us recover an item. For a long, long time he was dead set against anyone digging in his parks.

While I don't watch these things as they are usually false - I have read a lot of reports on the forums. No one says the show is good - all say they are giving the hobby a bad name & misleading new people. Steve in so az

I am up for anyone to make it on TV.... to promote the 'metal detecting' hobby....

but Rick Savage... the former professional wrestler has made that show about as 'fake' as professional wrestling....LOL

--bad acting
--planted/seeded relics and finds
--destructive nature
--inflated values of finds
--bad/improper use of equipment

I guess if you believe 'professional wrestling' is real and not entertainment.... you believe American Diggers is real and not entertainment....
