An Infinium PI Mono Coil Size Comparison using A US Nickel

Thanks John,

Interesting result.......another nail in the coffin for the "go deeper with bigger coil" theory (on coin sized targets).

I still think that the 11" is the sweet spot for coil size......PI or VLF.

Tony.

What is the difference between gs4 and Infinijuma, I think the stability of discrimination and depth ,if anyone knows thanks.

I'm not a fan of really large coils but doesn't the chart illustrate that at least with this detector the larger coil is deeper at most settings. Not that we find many coins in air !

Considering the difference in coil sizes 8" vs 12" ( 10+14=24 divided by 2 = 12), I don't think the 1/2 to 1' gain swinging the larger heavier coil is worth the extra work for a old geezer like me. I believe a 10" would be a good compromise. for coverage and depth.
