An unusual badge from the racetrack

Hi all,
I had a bit more luck at the same racetrack,an old pocket spill of the 1920 penny,a 1933 sixpence, also the 1933 halfcrown
(halfcrowns are great but I would like a few more gold rings ha ha).But the best find was the 1878 one shilling in real good condition.
I was just about ready to go home and had one more sweep and came up with this unusual badge, what interests me is the malteze
cross at the top of it. Any one out there have any thoughts........A great xmas and new year to you all.

Good on ya Jim,
All the best for the season, Love the condtion of the stuff you find and hope you find much more in the new year.
Regards Mark

Jim, you must be king of the half-crowns....great finds all. The badge looks intrigueing, not only the maltese cross, but the design in the body of the badge. I'm sorry that I cant help you with its origin, but it's something for you to research (on those very cold or very hot days). Great work. HH

Jim

Very nice finds. That 78 One Shilling is in excellent condition. Hope you find more information on the badge. Looks like the maltese cross is at the top of the golden crown. It's a little tough to make out in the pictures, but what are the two figures on either side of the front side?. Can't tell if they are pillars, torches or what. HH Randy
