It may take a program or two test runs to see what ya got there but as ya said "in 1749 the coins are definitly there" well there ya have it. Slow down and do the job......... I wish I had that problem with or without the WOT...
I've detected spots that claim to be from way back when and when ya get there .......NOTHIN.....PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT......HH <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)">

They are a waste of time unless you are trying to cherry pick an area ahead of a construction crew, or in certain other very limited situations.
Do as Doc says. I would add change over to ferrous, start IM-16 and get your machine to run stable as high as you can in Manual; then add in more iron mask if all the low sounding hits are driving you crazy. Unless there is alot of modern trash I would dig almost anything not iron.
If there is alot of iron you may not be getting the older coins because of target masking and not just raw depth. You might also try a smaller coil. I've seen many sites that were virgin judging by the wheats and mercs found. Should also be much older coins to be found but a deeper layer of iron trash makes it very difficult to get through to them.
